The webinar "Inflammation in Atherosclerosis - A Translational Journey" organized by the Editorial Office of The Journal of Cardiovascular Aging (JCA) and chaired by the Editor-in-Chief Dr. Ali J. Marian, was successfully held on January 6, 2023. It was a great honor and pleasure to have Dr. Peter Libby as the webinar Speaker to deliver an excellent report on inflammation in atherosclerosis.
The event was a huge success, with over 20,000 people watching the webinar via ZOOM and other live broadcast platforms!
First, Dr. Ali J. Marian extended a warm welcome and sincere thanks to the speaker Dr. Peter Libby and the online participants and presented JCA's basic information, Editorial Board members, publication status, and database application plan, fully expressing his firm confidence in the good development of the journal in the future! Then, Dr. Marian introduced Dr. Peter Libby, the keynote speaker of this webinar, and thanked him for his support and contribution to the journal!
In the report, Dr. Peter Libby introduced the latest progress and hot topics in research on inflammation and atherosclerosis, as well as cardiovascular diseases. He ended this report with a quote from Winston Churchill: "Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning." Dr. Libby thanked the great contribution of his co-authors and lab members in translating relevant research into clinical trials!
In the discussion session, Dr. Matthias Nehrendorf, Dr. Klaus Ley, and Dr. Christie Mitchell Ballantyne, members of the panelists, had an in-depth discussion with Prof. Libby on the progress of gene-targeted therapy for cardiovascular diseases, and answered questions from the participating scholars, which was highly appreciated by the scholars.
At the end of the webinar, Dr. Marian once again thanked Dr. Libby for his enlightening presentation. We are also very grateful for the support of all the teachers and students who watched the webinar.
