JCA Editorial team is an efficiency-oriented team that has been working hard to reduce the turnaround time for manuscripts. In 2022, for peer-reviewed articles, the time from submission to first decision is 18 days, the time from submission to publication is 31 days, excluding the time that authors spend on revision. As Dr. Marian emphasized in the Editorial Board Meeting, the quality of published papers and the high efficiency of manuscript processing should be one of the strengths JCA strives for.

2. Editorial Board

In 2022, seven extraordinary scholars newly joined JCA (Table 4). The Editorial Board of JCA now has 50 experts from 12 countries, including the USA, China, the UK, Italy, Canada, Germany, Australia, Spain, Japan, Singapore, France, and Greece (Figure 5). Seventeen Editorial Board members worldwide participated in the 3rd Editorial Board Meeting of JCA on April 19, 2022 and had in-depth exchanges on key decisions related to the journal's development (Figure 6).

5. Membership

In May 2022, JCA officially became a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). JCA consistently adheres to the COPE Code of Conduct and follows the Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors to ensure a rigorous peer-review process under strict ethical policies. That month, JCA reached cooperation with ResearchGate, a platform dedicated to helping scholars connect, collaborate, and share their work (Figure 9).

7. Features

Webinars

The JCA webinars are scheduled once a month. We invite distinguished scientists to exchange ideas and share research results and always welcome people working in related fields from all over the world to participate in the events, which not only facilitate the communication of researchers but also raise the visibility of the journal.

For the first webinar successfully held on December 1, 2022, we are delighted and honored to have Dr. Guido Kroemer, who defined the "Hallmarks of Aging" about a decade ago, as our inaugural speaker. He revisited the hallmarks in the event.

The second webinar "Inflammation in Atherosclerosis - A Translational Journey" was successfully held on January 6, 2023. It was a great honor and pleasure to have Dr. Peter Libby as the webinar Speaker to deliver an excellent report on inflammation in atherosclerosis.

Both events were huge successes (Figure 11), with over 40,000 people watching the webinars via ZOOM and other live broadcast platforms!

Podcasts

In 2022, JCA published two podcasts from Editor-in-Chief Dr. Marian about publishing research work (Figure 12). Please stay tuned for more podcasts from more distinguished experts!

8. Conference & Collaboration

The 9th Meeting of North American Section of the International Academy of Cardiovascular Sciences (IACS) and the 41st International Society for Heart Research (ISHR) meeting were successfully held from September 6 to 9, 2022, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. JCA was presented at the meeting as an official journal of IACS and a sponsor of the scientific meetings (Figure 13).

To further promote the innovative development of journals and increase the influence and visibility of JCA in related fields, in 2022, we successfully cooperated with four international conferences, which encourage academic exchanges, promote the publications, and raise the visibility of JCA (Figure 14).
